4th AUTO SUMMIT
The Event of the Year for Automobile Retailers

FADA’s largest and the most prestigious biennial Auto Retail event, Auto Summit 2006 on the theme “Changing Face of Auto Retailing – A Global Perspective”, scheduled for 13th and 14th January 2006 at New Delhi will host delegates from all over India, neighbouring countries of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, etc., as also from UK, USA and other parts of the world. It will truly be a global convention of Auto retailers for the first time. Eminent speakers from India and abroad drawn from automobile industry and allied businesses, Government, management consultants, academia and experts will deliberate on the Indian and global scene of the auto retail sector and identify the challenges and opportunities that exist and are emerging.

The deliberations will focus on the inter-play of competitive forces, management of a gamut of complex laws governing the retail auto business, importance of relationship management in a competitive environment and consolidating and sustaining growth through partnerships with the Government, industry and other stakeholders.

Auto Summit 2006 coinciding with the 8th Auto expo (12th-17th January 2006) organized by SIAM, CII and ACMA, is being held by FADA in association with Society of Indian automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

The 2-day event starts on 13th Jan’06 with a special session with foreign participants representing industry and retail automobile trade across the globe. In view of the globalisation and the presence of global auto majors cutting across the international boundaries, the developments in any part of the world have a direct bearing on the automotive business, including retail automobile trade, elsewhere. The sharing of experiences through interaction among participants from various countries will provide an insight into the global automobile scenario and go a long way in preparing the industry and trade to stand up to the challenges unfolding on the horizon.

Two Open House Sessions – one session with the senior officials of the central & state governments on issues like land use & planning in major cities, VAT, environment pollution, registration of vehicles, motor vehicle taxation; and the second with the representatives of manufacturers on issues of mutual concern, are also scheduled in the afternoon on 13th January 2005.

The formal inauguration of Summit is slated for 10.00 a.m. on 14th January 2006. The Summit is likely to be inaugurated by a senior minister of the Government of India. The programme for 14th January comprises Inaugural Session and three Business Sessions. Relevance of the theme of Summit and topics chosen for various Business Sessions needs no overemphasis in the context of paradigm shift in automotive scenario. Retail automobile trade is confronted with host of challenges, viz. intense competition in the market place, viability, rising expectations of manufacturers and the customers, owning & retaining customers, environmental and road safety concerns, infrastructure constraints, restrictions imposed by various States on plying of certain categories of vehicles, various forms of taxes on motor vehicles and compliance with a number of laws relating to industry, labour, land use, etc. While there are challenges galore, there are new opportunities up for grab, which retail automobile trade needs to explore and tap. The Summit will seek to address these questions and identify the roadmap for the future.

The Auto Summit 2006 affords an opportunity of interaction with leaders of automotive industry and allied sectors, as also with the Government authorities at the central & state levels. It is also an occasion for automobile dealers in particular, to meet their peers from all over India & abroad and, thereby, enrich their experiences.

As in the previous Summits, a gala cultural evening followed by cocktails and dinner forms an integral part of the programme of this important event, where participants will be able to unwind themselves after two days of intense deliberations dwelling on business.

Auto Summit 2006 is an event not to be missed. This momentous event to be mounted at a grand scale is set to attain new heights. So, hurry up and register for the Summit without delay.
