FADA
Council Meeting at Jammu
In
keeping with its policy of rotating meetings in various parts of
the country, FADA held its 221st Council meeting at Hotel Asia in
Jammu on 13th May 2005.
The Council Meeting was preceded by a media briefing by President
FADA. Media briefing on the objectives and activities of FADA and
highlighting current issues of concern to retail automobile trade,
received a good coverage in the local press and electronic media.
One of the important decisions taken at the Council Meeting was
the Council's green signal to a pilot project to be launched by
FADA at Mumbai and Pune, wherein FADA will associate with institutions
of repute in these cities for imparting training to diploma holders
and graduates, who after successful completion of the 6-month course
comprising classroom coaching and on-the-job training at automobile
dealerships, would be adequately equipped to cater to needs of automobile
dealerships and their workshops as Sales Executive, Service Supervisor
and Spare Parts Manager.
Since automobile dealers across the country are facing the shortage
of trained manpower suitable for automobile dealership and workshop
operations in view of the tremendous growth of automotive industry
in the last 5-6 years, the programme will be undertaken all over
India, on successful completion of the pilot project. The institutions
which will be accredited by FADA for training candidates specifically
for automobile dealerships and their workshop operations will function
under the close supervision of FADA and will impart training strictly
in accordance with the course curricula designed by FADA. Such a
programme is expected to be immensely beneficial to automobile dealers
because of ready availability of trained manpower suiting their
needs.
After the Council Meeting, FADA members visited Jamkash Vehicleades
- the dealership for sales, service and spares of Maruti Vehicles,
owned and managed by Mr Devender Singh Rana, a Council Member of
FADA.
In the evening, a dinner was hosted by Mr Rana in the honour of
Council Members & their families. A large number of Automobile dealers
in Jammu along with their spouses were present on the occasion. |
