Vijai Sales Corporation, a proprietorship firm to begin with, was founded by R Venkatraman in the year 1978 at Vellore. The firm was formed with the primary aim of marketing and servicing of LCV's manufactured by Force Motors Ltd (previously Bajaj Tempo Ltd).

The firm that started functioning in a rented workspace with about ten employees performed well and started tasting immediate success in the very first year of its commencement. The dealership was converted into a partnership firm and shifted to Vellore Katpadi Road, housing an exclusive office for marketing, spacious showroom for vehicle display and a full fledged workshop on a 1.5 acre plot of land by the end of second year. The continued success and excellent performance enabled the dealership to bag the Best Dealership Award from Force Motors Ltd, on an all India basis. Seeing the consistency in the performance of the dealership, Force Motors offered the firm dealerships at Chennai and Chengalpet districts too. Vijai Sales Corporation, Chennai started its operations in the year 1983.

One of the major policies of the company has been and will always be, to plough back its profits for further growth and expansion. This has enabled the firm to achieve tremendous growth and its present status in the industry.

Responding to the growing demand, the dealership converted its showroom and workshop at Greams Road, Chennai into an exclusive showroom for vehicles and a retail outlet for spare parts. The workshop was shifted to a 6-acre property on Poonamallee By-Pass Road. The workshop extends to about 23,000 sq ft and is capable of taking 60 vehicles for major and minor repairs at a time. Focus on customer relations and availability of sophisticated equipment like computerised wheel alignments and balancing, headlights alignment, gas analyser, etc. at its workshops has made Vijai Sales Corporation one of the major automobile dealerships in the State of Tamilnadu. Presently, the company is also a dealer for Mahindra & Mahindra Tractors.

The dealership is equipped with the latest IT systems and its operations are fully computerised with various outlets being networked for effective functioning and accountability.

R Venkatraman, the founder of Vijai Sales Corporation, earlier worked with TVS & Sons Pvt Ltd, Madurai. He had put in about 5 years in a Government Transport and Machinery workshop, dealing in earth movers & equipments and 18 years of service in TVS in its marketing department. The products handled by him were PAL-FIAT, M&M tractors and Ashok Leyland trucks. With 2 decades of experience in the Automobile Industry and 5 years as a successful entrepreneur, R Venkatraman had the opportunity to visit the US for a specialised dealership management training programme for 6 weeks at Ford Motors. He is a man with vision and vast experience and is greatly responsible for the success of the dealership and, with about 200 employees and business interest in automobile and allied industries, continues to scale new heights of growth with a missionary zeal.

The company conducts from time to time Training Programmes for the Marketing Department on various methods to keep the customers ever smiling and also for the Service Department on the latest technical developments on a regular basis. The latest trends and nuances of handling a customer and giving him utmost satisfaction has been a major programme conducted by the company and the company has always believed in considering 'The Customer as a King" which is one of the major factors for its leadership status in the retail Automobile Trade in its area of operation.

The company was also awarded Passenger Car dealership of Tata Motors for Vellore and Thiruvannamalai, as there exists a good demand potential for this kind of passenger cars in these districts. Senior Partner R Venkatraman, will head the passenger car business with the assistance of his son V Sridhar (Partner), who manages a Mahindra & Mahindra dealership at Bangalore.

R S Mani, a family member of the partners is the key person responsible for the day-to-day operations of these businesses.
