Meetings at Hyderabad and Cochin
 
A Council Meeting, an Open House Session and a Press Meet were organized on 17th & 18th July 2004 at Hyderabad.

The programme started with an Open House session and a Regional Meeting in the morning on 17th July 2004. The Chief Guest on the occasion was: C R Biswal, Transport Commissioner, Andhra Pradesh. The Joint Transport Commissioner Mr. Gandhi was also present at the meeting.

A number of issues including registration of vehicles by automobile dealers and unusually high road tax on non-transport’ vehicles in Andhra Pradesh, were discussed.

The Transport Commissioner appreciated the concerns and submissions made by the members at the meeting.

He said that Andhra Pradesh Government was alive to the issue of higher tax on motor vehicles in the State. However, the Government was faced with financial constraints.

On this occasion, a Directory of Automobile Dealers in Andhra Pradesh was formally released by the Transport Commissioner.

Hitesh Gupta of ICICI Bank, made a presentation on how ICICI Bank could be a one-stop shop for funding requirements of the dealers.

In the afternoon, a Press Meet was organized, which was very well attended by electronic and print media. Issues highlighted at the Press Conference received a wide coverage in the print and electronic media.

The next day, i.e. on 18th July 2004, a meeting of the FADA Council was held. Important decisions taken at the council meeting are:-

Approval of annual accounts of FADA for adoption at the next AGM to be held on 2nd September 2004.
Allocation of funds for development of retail automobile trade and a building for FADA office including the provisions for conference rooms, auditorium and guest house at Delhi.
Approval of Annual Report for adoption at the AGM.
Giving impetus to B2B Inventory Exchange Programme for FDA members.
Next AGM to be held on 2nd September 2004 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.
 
Regional Meeting at Cochin

Following the meetings at Hyderabad, a Regional Meet at Cochin was organized on 19th July 2004. The meeting at Cochin attended by about 30 automobile dealers from across Kerala was presided over by Deshnidhi Kasliwal, President FADA.

K.P.Somarajan, IPS, Transport Commissioner of Kerala, in his speech as the Chief Guest, highlighted the need for the automobile dealers to remain united to resolve their issues with the Government agencies and assured the dealers of his full co-operation in addressing the issues and problems relating to the Transport Department of Kerala Government. He also requested the automobile enforce discipline.

Meetings at Hyderabad and Cochin evoked a very good response and participation. The meetings provided a platform for automobile dealers at the places to interest with the Transport Commissioners of AP and Kerala. It was also an opportunity for the automobile dealers to give their feedback and inputs on how the activities of FADA could be strengthened further to make them more useful and directly beneficial to FADA membership. The meetings also helped FADA President and other office bearers to brief members at these places on the activities of FADA and automotive scenario at national and international levels.
