Strengthening FADA Activities

FADA held its 250th Council Meeting on February 11, 2010 at New Delhi. At the meeting, a number of new initiatives for the benefit of automobile dealers were discussed in addition to accelerating the activities already being pursued and carried out by FADA. Major decisions taken by the Council included:

▪
Setting up of International Automobile Dealers Association - FADA would be starting a dialogue with the automobile dealers' associations in UK, US, Russia, Brazil and Japan to set up an international organization of auto retail. This initiative would not only give more recognition to FADA but would lead to exchange of ideas & best practices for the benefit of dealers at large.

▪
Dealer Protection Law in India - FADA would be working with National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) - USA, Retail Motor Industries Federation (RMIF) - UK and other retail organizations in the world for the introduction of Dealer Protection Law in India.

▪
Extension of Tenure of Dealership Agreement FADA would be working with manufacturers for getting the tenure of manufacture-dealer agreement extended to 3-6 years from the present 1-3 years.

▪
Introduction of Periodic Inspection & Certification (I&C) regime - FADA would be working closely with the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, SIAM and other stakeholders for the introduction of I&C regime for all categories of vehicles including personal vehicles as in other countries. This would not only help to generate extra income for the dealers but would be a service to humanity as well. This initiative would go a long way in reducing accidents and pollution. FADA plans to achieve this at no extra cost for customers by working with insurance companies to give rebate if the vehicle has the fitness certificate.

▪
Insurance & Finance Companies - FADA has formed a small group who would be working with insurance and finance companies to get better business terms and for retail and wholesale funding.

▪
Setting up of Zonal Offices - To further strengthen FADA activities, zonal offices would be set up in Mumbai, Kolkatta, Bangalore, UP, etc., which would organize meetings, address local issues & problems, issue clarifications, organize seminars & training programmes and carry out other activities at the State levels for the benefit of automobile dealers.

▪
Appointment of Consultants - FADA would provide necessary help and guidance to its members on GST, VAT and Service Tax matters by appointing consultants who would be experts in their respective fields.

▪
Automobile Dealership Excellence Awards - Due to tremendous success of the first such awards presented at the Auto Summit to the Automobile Dealers, who were winners in various categories, ADEA would be an annual feature in FADA's calendar.

▪
Dealer Satisfaction Survey - FADA will associate with J D Power to support them in their proposed dealer satisfaction study.
